The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) is an independent government body that acts as corporate regulator. 

The main role of ASIC is

  • To enforce and regulate company and financial services laws to protect consumers, investors and creditors in Australia. 
  • It maintains the company and business name registers, which includes companies, registered bodies, foreign companies, associations, managed investment schemes and non-registered entities.
